The Honest Woodcutter and Three Wives
A woodcutter was crying under a tree on the bank of a river.
You know him. A long time ago, his axe fell into the river. Goddess of the river got up at his cry.
She showed him a golden axe and asked him “Is it yours?”
He said “No”
He said no to the silver axe too.
The Goddess was impressed by his honesty and gave him the golden and the silver axe along with his iron axe.
Today, that woodcutter is crying again. The reason behind his crying is his wife. His wife did not believe that the river Goddess gave him the golden and the silver axe.
To investigate, she came by herself to the forest and climbed up on a tree. She wielded the axe on the tree. The axe fell on the ground and his wife fell into the river.
His wife may have drowned in the river, assuming so he is crying.
The Goddess came out of the river, heard everything. And said she will bring back his wife immediately.
He raised a beautiful young woman from the water of the river. The Goddess said -“Is this your wife? ”
The woodcutter knows her, because he watches her videos regularly. The girl is a famous movie actress.
He said “Yes, this is my wife.”
The Goddess said– “Why do you change overnight, I know you to be truthful.”
The woodcutter smiled faintly and said “Please forgive me, if I say this is not my wife, you will bring another actress, I will again say this is not my wife. Then you will bring out my original wife. And at the end you will gift them all to me. Just think! Three axe can be kept together in a room, but three wives!!”
